# Activate Your BMO Card with the BMO Mobile App

> Use the BMO mobile app to activate your BMO credit or debit card in seconds. Download the app, sign in, and activate from your phone anywhere.

The easiest way to complete BMO card activation is through the BMO mobile app. Whether you have a new BMO credit card or debit card, the app lets you activate it in under a minute from your phone. You do not need to visit a branch or call anyone.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Download the BMO Mobile App">
    Open the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Search for "BMO Mobile Banking" and install the official BMO app. Look for the blue BMO logo (official brand color: #0886ca, BMO Blue).

  <Step title="Sign In or Register">
    Open the app and sign in with your existing BMO online banking username and password. If you have not registered yet, tap **Register** and follow the prompts to set up your account.

  <Step title="Navigate to My Cards">
    On the home screen, tap **My Cards** from the bottom menu. You will see a list of all cards linked to your account.

  <Step title="Select Your New Card">
    Find the new card that needs activation. It will show an inactive status. Tap on the card to open its detail screen.

  <Step title="Activate the Card">
    Tap **Activate**. Review any terms, then confirm. Your card is now active and ready to use.

  Enable push notifications from the BMO mobile app so you receive instant alerts when your card is activated, when transactions occur, or when security issues arise.

## What Devices Are Supported?

The BMO mobile app works on iPhones running iOS 14 or later, and Android phones running Android 8.0 or later. Tablets are supported, but activation is easiest on a phone.

## Troubleshooting

If you do not see **Activate** on your card screen, try force-closing the app and reopening it. Make sure you are on the latest app version. Updates often include fixes for card activation issues.
